Dr. Hootan Zandifar, M.D., F.A.C.S is the director of the skin center and a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon at the Osborne Head and Neck Institute located at world famous Cedars-Sinai Medical Towers in Los Angeles. A native of Los Angeles he received his medical degree from the prestigious David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He furthered his formal training by completing his residency in Head and Neck Surgery and was accepted to one of a few highly sought after fellowships in the Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgery under the auspice of American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). This rigorous training under the tutelage of world famous plastic and reconstructive surgeons allows Dr. Z the ability to provide the best and most advanced treatments available to his patients.
Dr. Z is a board certified diplomat of the American Board of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and board certified with American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery. He is a fellow of American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He focuses his practice solely on the cosmetic and reconstructive surgery within the head and neck region. This allows him to super specialize in the cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of these regions and to give his patients the optimal results they desire.
Facial Bone and Soft Tissue Reconstructive Surgeon
Dr. Z has a keen eye in facial reconstructive surgery. Weather the facial defect is from the devastation of skin cancer or facial injury, Dr. Z has the ability to reconstruct the face and return your appearance to normal. As a facial reconstructive surgeon, he has directed skin cancer reconstructive surgery clinics for Indiana University Dermatology residents and has received a distinction award in teaching for his mentorship of the residents.
Facial Trauma Surgeon
Dr. Z has trained under world renowned facial trauma surgeon Dr. Robert Kellman. Under Dr. Kellman’s tutelage Dr. Z was trained in the most advanced techniques in facial trauma reconstructive surgery. He continues to work with a group of maxillofacial and facial reconstructive surgeons in Los Angeles to treat local, national, and international athletes suffering from facial trauma.

Dr. Z has published several peer-reviewed articles in various scientific journals including Laryngoscope, ENT Journal, Journal of Pediatric Otolaryngology, Brachytherapy, Journal of pediatric otorhinolaryngology, and Journal of Investigative medicine. He has presented in various national meetings including the Annual American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive meeting, Combined Spring Otolaryngological Meeting, and Triological meeting.
Teacher and Mentor
Throughout his career Dr. Z has been involved in teaching others the art and science of medicine and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has been praised by residents in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and has won a teaching award from the Department of Dermatology at Indiana University where he held an assistant professor title. Currently he mentors high school students through the Osborne Head and Neck Foundation’s Medical Scholars Program.
